In part 1 of our virtual tour across the Austrian adventure scene, we took you on a wild ride of Supsquatch, bungee jumping, paragliding, and so much more.

For part 2, we’ll show you what other adventures await within. While this is no means a comprehensive list of all adventure activities or destinations (there are dozens of canyoning locations, for example!) we’ve chosen some of the best and lesser known destinations to get your adventure-lust in kicked into high gear.

Whitewater Rafting through the Imst Gorge, near Innsbruck

Mastering the river rapids is one of the most thrilling adventures you can have – so why not do it in one of the best known whitewater locations in the world? It’s the perfect opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the sport while discovering the Imst Gorge and everything it has to offer.

Since rafting is a group activity, you’ll be able to bring whitewater loving friends or meet up with an instructor and team at the same experience level as yourself. There are many certified instructors and guides that teach all levels, and once you are acquainted, it’s time to get ready.

Everything is provided –  wetsuit, helmet, life vest and neoprene boots. Your instructor will explain proper techniques and protocols, you’ll do a few dry runs as a group to make sure everyone is on the same page, and then it’s into the water!

For the next few hours, you’ll be exploring and tackling some of the most challenging rapids in the area, under the watchful eye of your guide, who will be there to help you at any moment.

Adventure canyoning at Auerklamm Gorge in Tarrenz, Tyrol

If you’ve got previous climbing/mountaineering experience, this adventure is just for you! You’ll need to have some experience to partake in this exploration, due to the challenging terrain. Made for the brave, you’ll be embracing your sense of adventure on this challenging canyoning excursion at Auerklamm Gorge in the Tirol.

For four or five hours, you’ll be submerged in canyoning bliss – feeling the thrills (and sometimes spills). Something that makes canyoning so cool and unique is that every location is so different, offering different sensations, jumps, twists and turns, fast speeds and beautiful nature. As you go farther and farther down this whitewater canyon, you’ll see how more demanding and challenging it gets with every step. Once you get real deep into the canyon, and only if you’re feeling extra adventurous, you’ll have an adventure unlike any other, where things real wild…

Mountain Biking in Innsbruck

Innsbruck is home to an off-road park that is perfect for all skill levels – beginners or amateurs taking the first steps towards becoming accomplished riders or simply having a fun session, with family and friends.

Offering a unique combination of Motocross and Enduro with a fun and remarkable view, you can rent bikes for the day as you dive into the world of motocross. Plus, there are not one, but two courses with different terrains and obstacles for you to hone and test your skills. From small obstacles to jumps, stone and full on trail sections, you’ll be having a blast for sure.

Beginner Ice Climbing course in Tauer

If you are brand new to the sport of ice climbing or want to experience this activity in the mountains of Austria, you can’t get better then the cold, icy mountains in the Austrian region of Osttirol.

One of the most well-known ice climbing places in the world because of its many mountains and its cold winters, the origins of ice climbing descends from rock climbing, and both sports follow the same principle of climbing until you reach the top.

You’ll use a harness, a cord, and helmet as safety equipment. Since you can exactly use your hands to hold onto the rocks or crevices, you’ll need an ice ax or piolet, plus weatherproof boots with crampons to make your way up.

It may sound intimidating, but you’ll be learning from the best experts whose life passion is ice climbing! You can find out everything you need to know here

Salza & Enns River Whitewater Rafting Trip
