REPLAY | Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2021 | Saint-Raphaël

source

For the restart after its longest break in history, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series will return to the country where it all began in 2009 – France. Twelve years ago, 13 brave cliff divers took the leap of faith from La Rochelle’s daunting Tower of Saint Nicolas, and it will be no less petrifying at Saint-Raphaël for the 12 women and 12 men when they launch themselves from up to 27m for the first time in almost two years since the last competition. The 12th season will kick off in Cap Dramont, a brand-new location on the famous Côte d’Azur. Just outside of the village of Saint-Raphaël, the nature preserve area features a signalling station built in 1860 which is still in active use as an observation post. Offering breath-taking views from the Ile d’Or and the Agay Bay, the diving location is a flashy red rock some metres off the shore. In a celebration of the world’s purest extreme sport, the 80th World Series stop since its introduction will allow the athletes to take-off from the plain rocks during their Required Dive round before they return to the platforms for the remaining three dives. Watching the divers freefalling into the Mediterranean Sea, viewers will fall silent for the men’s three-second flights from 27m, and this time will have the added treat of seeing the women showcase their acrobatic skills from 21m.It’s the first time that the women will compete on French soil, after the men visited La Rochelle six times and Bonifacio in Corsica once. In another debut, Gary Hunt, the World Series’ record 8-time champion, will compete under the French flag for the first time and there’s a chance that at the end of the competition ‘La Marseillaise’ will sound through the Estérel Mountains in honour of the World Series’ first French victor.#redbullcliffdiving #cliffdiving #redbull___Experience the world of Red Bull Cliff Diving like you have never seen it before:Subscribe to Red Bull Cliff Diving on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/redbullcliffd…Get the FREE Red Bull TV apps for all your devices: http://onelink.to/yfbct7Watch Red Bull TV: http://win.gs/WatchRBTVCheck out https://redbullcliffdiving.com Red Bull Cliff Diving on Facebook: https://facebook.com/redbullcliffdiving
