Originally, parkour was an evasion technique utilized by the French Special Forces. It was formerly known as “parcours du combattant,” which translates to “Warrior’s Path.” Raymond Belle had a son named David Belle, who altered it so that ordinary people could participate.

David Belle started the international movement that is now present all over the world with a group of pals who named themselves “Yamakazi”. Today, parkour is exploding in popularity across the globe – and online.

While parkour can be done anywhere in any kind of environment, there are some locations tat are much more special than others. More areas with sufficient space and obstacles to practice the sport are being used by tracers. In some situations, parks have been specially constructed for parkour with obstacles strewn about, and others are pre-existing parks that are naturally well-suited for parkour. There are even parkour parks and gyms for specialized training, too.

The park has a number of concrete constructions and grassy areas that fit in with the surroundings and present you with a challenge.

Hardcore parkour aficionados must visit Paris, since it is the city where parkour originated. There are several locations across the city where you may test out and practice crazy maneuvers, and Parc de Bercy, one of the top parks to visit.
